
A celebration of life service for Ronald G. Scott 70, of Newark, will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Criss Schoedinger Funeral Home, 179 Granville St., Newark, Ohio with Chaplain Cory Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
Ron passed away suddenly at his residence on Wednesday, January 27, 2010 with his wife and son by his side. Ron was born in Newark on March 5, 1939 to the late Selby D. Scott and Alta Murphy Scott. He and his wife Iona (McKinney) were married on June 27, 1964 and enjoyed over 45 years together.
He graduated from Newark High School and then entered the U. S. Army and proudly served his country in Germany from 1958 through 1960. Ron was a simple but meticulous man, who adored his wife, children, and grandchildren. A long time Union member of the Operating Engineers Union Local 18 and was employed with the Shelly and Sands Construction Co. for over 34 years. He enjoyed watching TV classics, singing silly songs with his grandchildren, taking family vacations and NASCAR. If Ron was your friend, he was your friend for life. He was also a former a member of the Moose, Druids, Eagles, and Amvets of Thornville.
In addition to his wife Iona, survivors include his children; Cheryl C. Richardson of Newark, Michelle (Marty) Davis of Newark, and David E. Robertson of Newark; grandchildren, Ainsley C. Richardson of Newark, Danielle Davis of Newark, Kyle Davis of Newark, and Taylor Davis of Newark; great grandson, Lance Welsh of Newark; brother, Gary (Maxine) Scott of Newark. He is also survived by many other loving relatives and friends.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Dolores A. McGlaughlin formerly of Toboso. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 2 to 4PM and 6 to 8PM.
