

Ronita K. Geckle, age 70 died suddenly on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. She was born in Marion, Ohio on February 16, 1953 to Paul and Helen Geckle, who preceded her in death. Ronita graduated from Pleasant High School in 1971, attended Ohio State University receiving her Bachelor of Science degree through the School of Allied Medicine in Dietetics in 1977, and in 1987 completed her Master of Science degree in Human Nutrition through the School of Home Economics. Her professional career was spent at Riverside Methodist Hospital as a clinical dietician and at Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories as a Research Scientist in Medical and Scientific Affairs. Ronita worked within a team that received numerous patents for medical devices and concepts. She was a lifelong faithful Buckeye fan, but in general loved to watch a variety of sports, especially Duke Basketball, the NCAA tournament, the Army/Navy football game, and the Olympics. She had the opportunity to travel but especially loved California, Scotland, France, The Caribbean, The Outer Banks, and anywhere near the beach and ocean. She was an avid reader and gardener, loved jewelry, art, fashion, and many genres of music including: Broadway, Jazz, Symphony, and Motown. Ronita was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church and the American Dietetics Association.
Ronita will be greatly missed by her two sisters Marla (Patrick) Mullen of Ijamsville, MD and Gretchen (Greg) Brooks of Gahanna as well as her nephew, Ryan Mullen of Chicago, IL, niece, Katherine Mullen of Baltimore, MD, and nephew, Jared Brooks of Gahanna. Ronita has numerous friends, neighbors, and cousins who will miss her kind heart and generous spirit. She chose to be an organ donor so in lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Lifeline of Ohio. Ronita supported Guiding Eyes for the Blind which provides guide dogs to people with vision loss and would have liked others to support that organization. She loved all animals but especially her former Labrador Retriever, Sunny and her current Golden Retriever, Quinton. A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 with visitation beginning at 10am, the service at 11am, and fellowship and light refreshments from 12-2 pm at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel. Pastor Tim Isseringhausen from Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley will officiate the service.
