

Rosemary Elaine Herron, aka "Nana Rose", age 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, surrounded by her children. She was born in Dayton on April 26, 1944 to the late William and Josephine Powers.
A lifetime learner, Rosemary cultivated a variety of interests, including genealogy, archeology, geology, medical technology, ethnobotany, companion animals, and alternative medicine. After earning her Master's degree in counseling from Kent State University, she worked as a neurotherapist, with offices in Akron and later in Dayton. In 2009, Rosemary began serving as editor of a monthly newsletter for the Montgomery County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society, a post she held until just before her passing. She was a Daughter of the American Revolution and passes this status onto to her daughter and granddaughter.
She is survived by her daughter Meghan (Josh) Herron Black and granddaughter Rowan, her son Ryan (Kathryn) Herron, her siblings, William (Ruth) Powers, Lydia (Alan) Berens and Robert (Janis) Powers, her aunt Letitia, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

The Montgomery County Genealogical Society has created a special fund in Rosemary's honor which will help support the chapter which was so important to her. Donations can be sent to The Montgomery County Genealogical Society, P.O. Box 1584, Dayton, OH 45401-1584 and marked “In Memory of Rosemary Herron”. They can only accept checks as they do not have the capability of accepting credit cards. "
