Ruth Ann Criner

Ruth Ann Criner, age 88, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 3, 2026, surrounded by her loving grandchildren. She was born on October 14, 1937, in Gallia County, Ohio, one of eight children to the late Grover W. and Ruth B. (Smith) Waugh. Ruth dedicated many years of service to Columbus Public Schools and was a faithful member of Pleasantview Baptist Church. Ruth’s greatest joy in life was her family. She cherished staying close with her siblings, speaking with them daily, and treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sherman B. Criner; her sons, Timothy (Christina) Criner and David (Sherri) Criner; her brothers, Grover and Paul Waugh; her sisters, Edith Stapleton and Katheleen Rose; and an infant brother and sister. She is survived by her grandchildren, Daniel and Brittany Carson; her great-grandchildren, Tristan, Xavier, Camron, and Jazaniah; her siblings, Alice Pinkerman, Geraldine Cummons, and Francis Waugh; her brothers-in-law, William Stapleton and Joseph Rose; as well as many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. A graveside service and interment will be held on Friday, May 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Mercerville, Ohio. Arrangements have been entrusted to Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services by Schoedinger Hilltop, Columbus, Ohio.
