Ruth Ester Owens

Ruth Ester Owens, age 80, of Columbus, departed this life on Friday, May 31, 2013 at her residence. She was born January 20, 1933 to Anthony and Bessie Mae Jones of Thomaston, Georgia. She accepted Christ at an early age, and was a devoted member of Christian Assembly Church for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and loving husband of 29 years, John Owens. Left to cherish her memory are her son George Harris and daughter Melanie Brown of Columbus, brothers Benjamin Jones and Milton Jones of Columbus, Fred (Evelyn) Jones of Thomaston, GA; and sisters Doris Aimery of Lansing, Michigan and Barbara Easley of Columbus; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family. Ruth retired from Columbus Public Schools after more than 25 years of dedicated service. A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Christian Assembly Church, 4099 Karl Road, Columbus, OH. Visitation with family will begin at 9 a.m. with the funeral service following at 9:45 a.m. Elder Harriston L. Wilson officiating. Interment will follow the church service at Glen Rest Memorial Estates 8029 E. Main Street.
