Sally Lou Neds Haxton went home to God September 24, 2017. Her oldest daughter was at her bedside.
She was born January 8, 1927 to Adrian Arnold and Margaret Charline Walker Neds in Columbus, Ohio. Before her move to Michigan, she had lived on East Powell Road longer than any of her neighbors. She relocated in 2015 to be closer to family, which included four great-grandsons who were the delights of her heart.
Sally graduated from Orange High School. She married her childhood sweetheart, David Haxton, on July 10, 1948 in Worthington, Ohio. Their love story lasted fifty-nine years, and continues now in heaven.
Sally was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and a loving servant to her family, church and community. She is remembered for her patriotism, her generous heart, and love for all babies. Even her poor health in later years did not dim her sense of humor or her gracious manners.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dave, sister Elizabeth Ellen Neds, and brother-in-law Bruce Briggs.
She is survived by brother A. Eugene (Elizabeth) Neds, Marysville, and sister Margaret C. Briggs of Denton, Texas; children Alison Haxton, Albuquerque, NM, Suzanne Haxton, Lapeer, MI, and Steven (Heather) Haxton of Upper Arlington; grandchildren Amanda Hanson, David Hanson, Cailin (Ryan) Wilson, Adrienne (Brian) Thompson, Katrina Chrismer, Anderson Haxton, Blake Haxton and Haley Haxton, and four great-grandchildren.
She will also be greatly missed by her BFF Betty Holland, Upper Arlington.
Calling hours are 5:30-7:30 pm Friday, October 6 and 9:00 – 10:00 am Saturday, October 7, with funeral immediately following at 10:00 am. All services will be held at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 6699 N. High Street, Worthington, Ohio. Interment at Berlin Township Cemetery.
For friends who wish, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Bible Society or the Salvation Army.
