

Samir Fawzy Khalil Tanious, age 63 of New Albany, passed away August 8, 2011. Samir was born in Cairo, Egypt, son of the late Fawzy Kahalil and Affifa Awad Tanious. Samir grew up in Egypt before coming to America in 1970. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and worked mostly as a computer programmer. He was a very intelligent and creative man who had a deep Christian faith. Samir was a lifelong Presbyterian and also financially supported the Coptic Orthodox Church. He enjoyed listening to Egyptian music, was a tremendous cook, and was also avid sports fan and especially favored the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 27 years, Marilyn Tanious; sister, Salwa (Ehab) Yanni; brother, Samy (Hoda) Tanyos; nieces and nephews, Heidi, David, Sarah, Elizabeth, Faris, and Sam Andrew; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Memorial service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Church of the Resurrection, 6300 E. Dublin-Granville Rd. Pastor Phil Hazelton from New Albany Presbyterian Church officiating.
