Sandra L Abel

Sandra L. Abel, age 61, of Powell, Ohio passed away peacefully at her home with family by her side on Saturday February 20, 2021. Sandy had fought a long and hard 9-month battle with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma but the cancer and its treatment won in the end.

Sandy was a lifelong caregiver to family and friends. She did after-school care for two neighbor boys for a number of years, she gave over 5 years of her life caring for her mother in a Memory Care Facility, and took care of a friend in California off and on for a month at a time as her friend was dying of cancer. She could light up a room with her presence, her smile and her wonderful laugh. She enjoyed vacations to many places but dearly loved being at home.

She is preceded in death by her parents James K. McKinney and Beverly A. (Hoffman) McKinney. She is survived by her husband of 24-years Augustus W. Abel and their son Austin J. Abel, sister Janet L. (Lindsey) Coyne of Michigan, nephews Joseph Coyne (his children Macie, Caden, and Harper) and James Coyne of Michigan, Aunt Betty (McKinney) Kost of Michigan, two dear friends Michael and Melissa Troxel of Powell and many other very close friends.

Friends may call Friday February 26, 2021 from 6pm to 8pm and Saturday February 27, 2021 from 9am to 10am at Schoedinger Funeral Home in Worthington, Ohio. A celebration of life service will be held at the funeral home Saturday February 27, 2021 at 10:00am with Pastor William Hartfelder officiating. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery Columbus, Ohio.
