
Sandra Kay Bennett-Burns, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2010, at First Community Village. She was born on February 25, 1937, in Dover, Ohio. She was a graduate of Dover High School in 1955, and Ohio University in 1959, BSED, and a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She attended Franklin University from 1977-1984 and received her CPA in 1986. She was employed as an accountant by Robert A. Igel, CPA, from 1978-1987. She was Director of Finance for Kappa Kappa Gamma Headquarters, Columbus, Ohio, from 1987-2002. She was a member of Upper Arlington Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and was a volunteer in the accounting department. She enjoyed tennis, skiing, ballroom dancing, reading, and traveling. Sandra is survived by son, John (Anita) Bennett; grandchildren, Andrew, Lauren, John William, and Nathan Bennett; cousins, Jane (Pete) Paris, Constance Paris, and Robert (Tita) Knauss; brother-in-law, John (Lorrie) Burns; stepdaughter, Carrie (Adam) Gill; and former husband, Chet Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Burns; parents, Herman and Marjorie Wolfe; and son, Jeffery Bennett. A special thank you to Marilyn Gordon and the staff of First Community Village for the loving care and kindness she received. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 17, at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church, 2300 Lytham Road, Columbus, Ohio 43220. There will be a reception for friends and family following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Sandra’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, Central Ohio Chapter, 3380 Tremont Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221.
