Sara A. Toomey

Sara A. Toomey, age 92, of Reynoldsburg, passed away Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Wesley Ridge Retirement Community with her family by her side. She was born March 6, 1932 in Aiken, South Carolina, daughter of Frank and Blanche (Eubanks) Smith. Sara retired after 20 years as office manager of The Ohio State University College of Allied Medicine. She will be sorely missed and is survived by children, Michael (Lisa), Gilbert (Janice), Frances (John) Mys, Mary Toomey (Joseph Mongolier), Julie (Dave) Prescott, Michele Toomey, Paul (Donna), Thomas (Leyni) and David (Shannon) Toomey; beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Maureen (Brian) Kulina, Kevin, Emily, Sarah Gabres, Jonathan, Sabrina, Jennifer, Marc, Megan, Patricia, Jacob, Lucas Toomey and Mandy Bragg and 15 great grandchildren. Also survived by a brother, Joseph A. Smith; nieces and nephews and many friends. Sara was preceded in death by her husband, James Toomey in 1993; a son Regis Toomey and two sisters, Frances Stone and Jewel Culler. The family will be forever grateful to the kind and caring staffs of Wesley Ridge and Wesley Hospice for their wonderful care over the past several years. Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 am Friday, August 16, 2024 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4383 E. Broad St., Whitehall with Fr. Timothy Lynch Celebrant. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 17, 2024 in the Kimes Chapel at Wesley Ridge, 2225 Taylor Park Drive, Reynoldsburg, OH 43068, where family and friends may gather from 12 noon-1:00 pm before the Celebration. Sara donated her body to The Ohio State University Division of Anatomy Body Donation Program and she will be interred at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date.
