Sharon Snyder Bernert, age 75, passed away April 18, 2025. Sharon will be greatly missed by her husband of 48 years, Ted Bernert, daughter Kate Bernert of Washington DC, and son Jeb Bernert (Emmy) of Clintonville, Ohio. She is also lovingly remembered by her two granddaughters, Kaia and Eila as well as her extended family and her many friends.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Pierce and Maxine (Longbrake) Snyder, and her brother, Fred Pierce Snyder.
Sharon’s kind and gentle ways belied a fighter’s spirit – after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer more than 20 year ago and experiencing recurrences, she lived with multiple types of cancers for decades. She refused to be held back from a full life with family and friends and continued to be active in her community at the time of her passing.
Holding a lifelong passion for learning, Sharon graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Ohio State University in 1976. While raising two young children she went back to school and obtained a Degree of Applied Science in Nursing Technology from Columbus State Community College in 1996. She also held a deep commitment to caring for others and was still a practicing Registered Nurse with Worthington Family Physicians.
Above all, Sharon loved her family and especially loved becoming a grandmother.
Mass will be held at 10 AM on May 22, 2025, at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221. We will meet thereafter to remember her at her home in Upper Arlington.
Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers in Sharon’s name to the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research.
