Sharon Pittman Kappeler

Sharon "Cheri" Pittman Kappeler, age 75 of Hilliard, passed away peacefully Monday, January 20, 2020. Cheri was born the only child of the late John and Ruth Pittman. Also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Dietrich Kappeler. Cheri graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from Northeast Louisiana University and retired as a Social Worker from The State of Louisiana. Following their retirement in Louisiana, Cheri and her husband Eugene settled in the Columbus area in 2001. While in Columbus she was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church where she greatly enjoyed Bible studies. Cheri also enjoyed time volunteering at the State House where she gave tours and helped educate students on its history. In addition, Cheri liked playing bridge, was a fantastic Cajun cook, and remained a huge LSU fan, enjoying greatly their latest championship. Most of all, family was important to Cheri, and she loved being a devoted grandmother and spending time together with family and friends. She will be greatly missed by her loving children, Bradley (Tammy) Thomisee and their children, Taylor and Tatum; Karl (Michele) Kappeler and their children, Joel, Benjamin and Brooke; and Phil (Joan) Kappeler and their children, Nicole and Jake; and many other extended family members and dear friends. Family will receive friends from 2-5 P.M. Sunday, January 26, 2020 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Funeral service will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, January 27, 2020 at St. John Lutheran Church, 6135 Rings Rd. Interment St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chuckery, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 6135 Rings Rd., Dublin, Ohio 43016.
