Sophie and I luckily, yet mistakenly, met because our TikTok algorithms thought we lived close by. They ended up becoming my best friend despite the distance. They broke me out of my shell and truly changed my life, blessing and inspiring me with their kindness, purity, hope, and love. I am so grateful and lucky that they shared and gifted their thoughts, paintings, essays, poems, and more with me. Sophie was a jack of all trades and could turn anything into meaningful art. I send my condolences to the Malynn family.

I only knew Sophie for a brief time. Our paths had crossed at the Food Fort, where my company rents space. Sophie exuded such positive energy, and always took the time to ask how things were going with the business, and what I was doing that weekend in my personal life. But what we really bonded over was talking about music, which I now know will come as no surprise to those who knew her best. I'm so, so sad about her passing. All of us at Winston's offer our most sincere condolences to her family and friends, as does my wife, who is a graduate and former cross country runner at St. Thomas Aquinas.

My sincerest condolences for your loss. Wherever they went, Soph was nothing short of radiant, always the coolest person in the room, a friendly face in the crowd, and so gracefully themself.

Rest easy, Soph. You will be so missed.

Sophie was so cool — she was warm and kind and funny and had some incredible takes on movies. She was a regular at the theater I work, a member of the Gateway program, and we were so, so lucky to have her as a member of our community. We’re really going to miss her at the film center, all my condolences to her family and friends.

I remember meeting y’all when Spencer was touring FSU when Bill was there. We all instantly clicked. I will forever cherish our laughs and conversations we shared. Thank you for being such a light in our world. Forever our Sophie 🩷 I love you so much.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I remember being so excited to introduce my sister to my friend Madeline's younger sister that was in the same grade as her at Walsh. And I feel that once they met Sophie was truly a blessing in my sister Brenna’s life and our families throughout their time at Walsh and into college. Sophie was always at our home on the weekends while they were in high school and they would sometimes visit me at UD, and those visits turned into the funniest most meaningful memories. Sophie was an incredible human being who could light up any room with her contagious personality and smile. She will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

The only reason I wore this costume was because Sophie said I looked cool. From being my biggest hype man to biggest competitor, I’ll admit that you are better than me at foosball. My protector always, now my guardian angel.

One of the very first times I met Sophie freshman year. We got along so well, we even unintentionally matched. 🫶

So incredibly sad to hear about the passing of Sophie. While we were never super close as I only attended Walsh Jesuit for a year, keeping in touch on Instagram and seeing their music recommendations always brought me joy. Sending lots of love to their family and everyone they have blessed with their presence.

Words cannot begin to define the person Sophie is and how they impact everyone they’ve met. Sophie has impacted more humans in their life than they know, and I truly cannot begin to describe how much I’ve learned from soph. For about 5 years we were tied at the hip. Where you found one of us, you found the other. Sophie is the best friend I’ve ever had. Soph loves so deeply , so truly, so intentionally. And that goes without thought. While it’s hard to find the words to say, it’s not hard to describe how loving, passionate, and deeply smart Sophie is. I’m comforted by thinking how Sophie would be with us in this moment. If I was crying, I know that they would bump me on the arm, and I would complain about how strong they are, and they’d make me laugh and help me move on. Sophie is a lover of joy and happiness for everyone and that came out in their love for social justice and equality. From buying matching steering wheel covers, to trying out for field hockey together, to visiting my sister in college together, I can’t even begin to fit the memories we shared into this. When I say this, it is no exaggeration, Sophie is the best friend I have ever had. And it’s their personality that is helping me through this time. I’m thinking of how Sophie would react to tears, to troubles, and to teaching us how to move on. Sophie is a true passionate human towards making the world a better and more loving place. I learned more through Sophie than I could ever learn in a classroom. I can’t think of another person who has as many passions and interests as Sophie does. Speaking of passion, soph embodies what it means to be passionate and loving for your family. They love and feel so deeply for their family and always have. The Malynn family resonates so deeply and was always a prominent point of conversation in soph’s life. And to have experienced their family is a gift. Siblings and parents that are so loving and so compassionate. To be honest, I could write a novel about Sophie.

i look back at lacrosse memories quite often and always miss the time we had together. now i will back and cherish all the moments we had with my whole heart. you’re smiling in every picture, the impact you had on our lives will last forever🤍🫂

Sophie’s first visit to me in Chicago. I had only lived in Chicago for about two weeks and was feeling the loneliness of a new city. Sophie’s visit was filled with good food, hair braiding, exploring new neighborhoods, and ended with seeing one of Sophie’s favorite bands, CHAI. Fun fact, sophie was in their top .05 percent of listeners for this year, and the band liked Sophie’s post from this night. Sophie was always my go to for a laugh, a new song and especially when I need a friend.

Soph was truly one of a kind. I am blessed to have called them my friend and roommate. We shared a love of K-Pop, poetry, and activism. I will always cherish the memories we shared like going to the Ren Faire and Columbus Pride, attending peaceful protests, coexisting together to write poetry, and of course their iconic parties they threw. Soph’s passion, spontaneity, confidence, and empathy continue to inspire me to live my life as authentically and purposeful as they lived theirs. Thank you for being my friend, Soph. Never stop singing and dancing <3
