Born Sophie Elizabeth, the third child of Jennifer and Steven, Sophie lived with her heart stitched outside her body. From the moment she stepped into the world, Sophie brought happiness, inclusivity, poetry and the most impeccably eclectic taste in music to everyone around her.
She loved being a member of the Columbus Community Choir, where she performed with people of all ages and walks of life - something her entire family witnessed earlier this year. Her music bug was planted firmly by her father’s shared love, and quickly turned into a new venture of learning the bass guitar. She had a famously curated playlist that lasted a multitude of hours, designed to be the soundtrack of an epic father/daughter country wide roadtrip.
Her love of the arts was only second to the love of her family, friends, people and animals around her. With every note, every thought, and every action - Sophie made sure that those around her always knew they were loved. Her social birthday messages for each of her siblings (Spencer, Madeline and Katherine) were always fully Sophie. Photos chosen with intention and purpose to show how deep she cares. There was never a question how deep she loved - unless there was a heated board game going on!
Sophie had a thirst to learn and to help. When her fellow co-workers spoke a different language, she learned it. When friends celebrated religious holidays she didn’t know about - she listened and partook. She always took the time to see what the other was thinking, feeling and experiencing in the world. A rarity and blessing.
Sophie will be missed beyond words by her entire family.
Survived by her mother Jennifer (Port), and father Steven, brother Spencer, sisters Madeline and Katherine, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and loved ones. We know she is now with her beloved Grandmas (Meryll Malynn, and Agnes Port) and Grandpa (Ernest F. Port), and that brings comfort in the only way possible.
