

Tao Zhang Ph.D., D.D.S., 43, of Lewis Center, Ohio, passed away on June 28th, 2019. He was born on April 26th, 1976, to parents Guangmin Zhang and Jinhua Lu in Qingdao, China. Tao graduated from Beijing Medical University in 1999, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Laboratory Medicine. Tao’s life is full of adventure. From 2001 to 2005, Tao studied in neuroscience at the University of Texas at Austin and received his Ph.D. degree. Then Tao went to Baylor College of Medicine for a Postdoctoral training in Dr. John Dani’s lab. In 2010 Tao start study at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, where he received his D.D.S. degree and became a dentist in 2014. He is passionate about dental work. One year ago, Tao started his dental practice in Marion, Ohio. Tao was an active and knowledgeable person in many fields.
Tao liked outdoor activities such as mountain biking, fishing, skiing, and sailing. Tao was a loving husband, humorous and sometimes “crazy” father, listening, caring son and a beloved friend to many people. He was also a self-educated carpenter, a mechanic, and a handyman. Tao always braved to embrace new challenges and pursue his dream. We had an incredible journey with him.
Tao met his wife, Yan, when they were in college and married for 19 years. They enjoyed traveling and outdoor activities with their son Steven and daughter Kacey. Tao always told kids that he was a space traveler, and we believe he must have started a new journey under God.
A Funeral Service celebrating Tao’s life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 North High Street. His family will receive friends from 12pm until the time of the service. Burial will be held Monday, July 22 at 11am at Resurrection Cemetery. Please do not send flowers.
