It was such an honor to be the one assigned to come and see Thelma, initially, once a week. Every Wednesday (or the many times it would be a different day because of my schedule) for almost 2 years I had the pleasure of getting to know Thelma. She was so proud to talk about the talents and accomplishments of her grandkids and greats,  I hope you all find some joy and comfort in that. I heard all about dance, tennis, college,  etc. 
I think I was spoiled to be able to often just have a one on one conversation with Thelma, and through the almost 2 years, we both shared a lot. I will forever remember her soft, kind smile and her laugh. I interrupted a lot of naps with my visits, but she never held it against me, and always was happy to see me. Wednesday’s won’t be the same without Thelma, or without trying to say something into the ring camera to make Brad laugh at work.

I am grateful Grandma Bennett was able to meet my family and my children. I am beyond grateful to have had her in our lives. She will be missed! Love you Grandma!

The Higgins Family

I will always remember the way Grammie’s face lit up when she saw anyone walk through the door to see her. We would always show up, give her hugs and kisses and listen to her tell us funny stories from her past, or even the morning before when Uncle Brad was being goofy. There are so many memories I’ll cherish that I was blessed enough to make with my Grammie. Knowing she will always look down at me and watch all of my accomplishments gives me  so much more life and joy. She will forever be one of our biggest role models, the rock of our family❤️

When people talk about being the oldest or youngest sibling, grandchild, or cousin of their family, I always feel special being able to say I was the first GREAT-grandchild. What made it even more special was that there were so many great-grandkids who were not only able to know Grammie, but also to have her be such an anchor in their lives. 

My earliest memories are in Grammie and Poppy's house: Grammie reading book after book, playing with any and every toy that could be dressed up, breakfasts of scrambled eggs, powdered donuts, and strawberries, and family dinners. 

So many things I value in my life are because Grammie showed me how much joy they could bring to your life. Curling up with a good book, having your accessories match your outfit *perfectly*, and spending as much time as possible with family over a good meal or game are just the few that others knew her for, too.  Some I will hold in my heart for between the two of us. 

Grammie always talked about her "grands" and "greats" with so much pride, but I hope she knew how much pride we had in her, too.

It’s funny how the little moments are the memories stay with you forever. 

I remember being a little girl and begging to spend the night at your house on Woodside. Erin and would watch TGIF, eat vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and fight over who got to have their back scratched first. 

I remember you holding Skyler for the first time, bringing KFC and grandpa Jims famous Au gratin potatoes to the condo and telling me everything was going to be okay. 

I remember how you loved my mom through her diagnosis, treatment, and the end of her life. 

I remember you being at every dance recital and beaming with pride watching your sweet things dance.  

I remember sitting with you at Hayley’s graduation party and listening to you tell so many stories about your siblings that I had never heard. 

I remember that you hated the Ruthie’s Way sub but loved your pepperoni pizza from Cardos and Pizza Cottage. 

I remember you being so tickled standing between Josh and our friend Lane at the Cincinnati football game in 100° heat. Your 5 foot even to their 6’5 plus. You’ll forever be the honorary Marauder Grammie. 

I remember all the times you looked at Uncle Brad at lunch to remind him to open that wallet for the kids ice cream money. 

I remember the last pool party you were able to come to at Erin’s. You asked Josh to help you turn your chair because you just wanted to watch the grandkids play. 

I remember praying with you, talking about our faith together, holding your hand and telling you how grateful I was to have you in my life. 

Everyone should be so lucky to have a mom like you, a grandma like you, a Grammie like you. 

40 years of memories wasn’t enough but I am thankful for them all.

I was so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. She has been such a great friend over the past 40 years and I sincerely enjoyed being with her,  especially on card club nights. Her sense of humor is what I loved the most about her. She was ALWAYS laughing and smiling and talking about you kids and the grandkids. She was all about family!!  I truly cherish all of the fun times we had together. I will forever giggle when I hear someone say, “Hey, Skinny Butt!”  Rest peacefully my dear friend!
