Tom was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Walter Jakeway.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of almost 35 years, Mary Jakeway; daughter, Jessica Jakeway; sister, Donna Jakeway; and a host of extended family members and friends. Tom loved getting hugs from his grand dog, Dexter and protecting others from his dog, Toby.
Often better known as "Tom Sr." or even "Shazba,"(a line he stole from Mork and Mindy), friends and family refer to him as "one of a kind" and a "legend." He always made people laugh with his quick wit and funny t-shirts.
Tom attended Columbus East High School.
His years of service in the Navy made way for his love of travel. His favorite place was Hawaii. He enjoyed snorkeling around Lanai, golfing on Maui, and boating along the Napoli Coast of Kauai. He always made room for sea food and ice cream.
An avid fan of the film, "The Hustler," Tom had a natural love and talent for poker and pool. He also made sure to cheer on his Ohio State Buckeyes.
Tom retired from ADT as a Security System Installer and owned a Pool Hall in Washington Court House.
A man with three different homes, Tom lived his last few years as a snowbird. He spent most of the spring/summer up at Lake Erie at Plymouth Shores on the Bay and then flew south to North Fort Myers to avoid cold Ohio winters.
