I had the honor of working with and learning from Tom back in 1972 at WJNO in West Palm Beach.  He was our Program Director and I was 20, only four years into radio.  His creativity, energy and great attitude made work fun.  He was an inspiration to me and I'm sorry I didn't stay in touch with him. 
God rest his soul.

Tom and I worked together at WMYR in Fort Myers, Florida. He was a very fun person! My prayers go out to his family and friends. I just learned of this from another co-worker at WMYR...via Facebook.

I was so saddened to read about Tom's passing. I remember Tom taking me under his wing at Hot 105.7 (formerly the Power Pig) when I worked there in the early 90's. I can still hear his amazing voice. I'd like to take a moment to say thank you, Tom, for giving me the chance to live my dream and giving me my start in radio at Z103. I learned a lot from you and still apply it today to my own stations.

I always laugh when I think of the remote down on the Indiana Reserve in the Everglades, all of us packed into the big red van, and on the way back, driving down what I think was alligator alley, we blew a tire.  A little old couple stopped to take us to get a new tire and dad and Tom were trying to scrap together money for it....I think they had about $7.48 between the two of them, good think us girls came ready to shop, I think we came up with about $50 and got the tire fixed and made it home.

When you were DJ-ing at the hot Top 40 stations we (your daughters) were the coolest kids at school.  When you were DJ-ing at the Adult Contemporary stations- not so cool........

I remember sitting at one of the radio stations over night, I think in West Palm. You were taping and listening to Fran and I being silly doing Jaws skits ALL NIGHT.. The tape is still around somewhere...

Tom, I remember being really really little around 9 or 10 and we sat in one of the radio stations doing a spot for a car dealership. You were the Santa , 'cause it was Christmas time and I was the little girl. I remember being so excited that I got $50 for doing it. I love you, Kelly

How strange to come across this news today of Tom's passing.  A few days ago the idea suddenly popped into my head to see if I could find him on Facebook and say hello.

T.R. hired me at WIRK in W. Palm Beach in 1973, to do the 7-Mid. shift.  I was still 17 when I started that weeknight job.  Some months later, Tom left the station and became P.D. of WJNO, also in the Palm Beaches.  

A few months passed, I lost a roommate, and needed someone to take the other bedroom and split the rent.  Tom had just separated from his wife, as I recall, and became my roommate for just a few months.

I remember how much he loved the song "Morning Girl" by Neon Philharmonic.  I also recall his ongoing battle with the WIRK chief engineer, as T.R. liked to tinker and tweak the equipment (like winding the capstans of the turntables to speed up the records!).  The chief was an old-school guy that didn't appreciate Tom's "improvements".

I haven't been in contact with Tom since 1974, but always remembered him as a good boss and roommate.  I had been working weekends at a station in Miami previously, but Tom gave me my first full-time air personality gig.  I returned to Miami in '74, went on to work at radio stations in Chicago by '77, and have been a voice-over artist for the past thirty years.  But, I have have fond memories of the "Mighty 1290" and T.R.
