

Thomas H. Robinson, Columbus Police Department, Commander, Retired, passed away peacefully in his lake house in Woodland Park, Michigan at the age of 68. He was born October 3, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Thomas, Sr. and Marie (Harder) Robinson, and spent his formative years in Toledo, Ohio. Tom graduated from Fisk University in Nashville, TN and began a successful career with British Petroleum. He attended the Columbus Police Academy, (where he later taught for many years) and through diligence and hard work advanced from officer to commanding officer. He served on the Columbus Police Force as Commander over child abuse and served passionately for children’s advocacy, including serving on the committee which founded the Center for Family Safety and Healing. Tom and Muriel June enjoyed spending time in Michigan as well as in North Port, Florida, where they were a part of the South Biscaine Baptist community. He leaves behind his loving wife, Muriel June Robinson and her daughters, Monica (Donald) Wilks and Jodie (Manley) DeShong of Columbus and Brandy (Richard) Bedford of Cincinnati; brother, Art (Loretta) Martin of Cleveland; step-daughter, Gina Lowmax; special grandchildren, Cierra, Richelle, Kaylee, Ricky and Rachel; 2 great-grandchildren; cousins, Stanley Hunt of Toledo and Lesson Stewart of Columbus; nieces, nephews other relatives, colleagues and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Ford. Family will receive friends beginning at 6pm Friday, June 29, 2012 at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43232 where a service will begin at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: The Center for Family Safety and Healing, 655 E.
