Thomas L. Startzman

Thomas L. Startzman, age 87, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, at his residence in Springboro, OH. He was a devoted husband and father. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of many years, Catharine; parents, Clyde and Ruth (Seaney) Startzman; and siblings, Jane (Proctor), Lois (Hughes), and Clyde, Jr. He is survived by his son, Jeff (Cathy) Startzman; two grandchildren, Stephanie (Ian) Buchholz and Christopher Startzman; and great-granddaughter, Charlotte Buchholz. Tom proudly served our country in the Army before graduating from The Ohio State University College of Law in 1954. He then embarked upon a career in public service, culminating in 20 years as Clerk of the Supreme Court of Ohio. After retiring, he followed his love of animals as a volunteer at the Columbus Zoo. Tom was an avid fan of Ohio State football and spent fall Saturdays cheering on his beloved Buckeyes. Family will receive friends from 10-11am, Monday, January 16, at SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Road. A graveside service will be held at 11:45 a.m., Monday, January 16, at Kingwood Memorial Park. Mark Dettmer, officiating. Donations may be made to ¬¬¬World Wildlife Fund in Tom’s name.
