

"These are the days God has given." Let's come and rejoice, God's wish for Ted's coming home. Life begins at birth and ceases at the last breath however, the immortal soul is forever. Life for Ted began in Charlotte, NC, February 13, 1943, with death, February 26, 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. Preceded in death by his father, Treadwell, Sr. and other immediate family members. He is survived by his mother, Thelma Ratchford; loving daughter, Fern Ratchford; sister, Judy (James) Coleman; niece, Sabrina; cousin, Haywood (Nan) and Virginia "Sister" (Dewey) Wilson; close family friend, Desmond Gause; nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his constant companion, Paquena "Lady Dog". He leaves behind many high school and college friends on an off the basketball court - too many to mention but not forgotten. After graduating from West Charlotte High School and Winton-Salem State University, he continued his education with a Master of Education degree from Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH. He retired from the Columbus Public Schools after thirty-two years as a teacher, coach, counselor, and mentor to many students. Due to his declining health, he would want to thank all who were involved in his personal care - prayers were asked and answered. Extended thanks to Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Wexner Rehab Center, Pickerington Rehab, Orthopedic Services and the wonderful assistance of the Schoedinger Staff. A memorial service will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Hope and Heart Funeral Home by Schoedinger, 2741 Cleveland Avenue.
