A 1974 graduate of Parkersburg High School in West Virginia, Victor served as President of his Senior Class. After graduating, he attended West Virginia Wesleyan College before transferring to West Virginia University, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1978. It was there that he met fellow art student and future wife, Janet Cutler. As a young art student in the 1970s, Victor visited Italy, which left an indelible and lasting impression on him and his art. Victor and Janet moved to southern California not long after graduating, where he pursued an art and modeling career. They were married in northern California in 1984. In the late 1980s, the couple moved to the Columbus, Ohio area to be closer to family, where their daughter Kahla was born. Victor and Janet took great pride in their new home, working together to make improvements. They built a large deck where they entertained family and friends under the stars in their wooded backyard. Victor enjoyed art, carpentry, spy thrillers, sports (particularly his beloved Cleveland Browns), and playing in pool leagues and informal games at the local pub with friends. Victor also loved and found peace in the outdoors, the ocean, and camping with his family. The Ohio State University employed Victor for many years, most recently as a Comptroller for the Wexner Center for the Arts, before his retirement. In 2015, Victor traveled to Italy one last time when he and his daughter visited Iceland, Denmark, Great Britain, and Italy not long after Janet's death.
Victor was a generous and devoted husband, father, family member, and friend. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janet Cutler, and his father, Robert E. Davis. His surviving family members include his daughter, Kahla A. Davis (Sacramento, CA), his mother, Nona M. Davis (Parkersburg, WV), his brother, Paul H. Davis (Broomfield, CO), his sister, Angela Y. Peacock (Parkersburg), his brother, Philip E. Davis (Patterson, CA), and his sister, Felicia L. Bush (Parkersburg), in addition to many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At his request, there will be no service. To honor Victor and Janet's love of the arts, those who wish may contribute to the Parkersburg Art Center (parkersburgartcenter.org), P.S. Arts (psarts.org), or a charity of their choice in his memory in lieu of flowers or memorial gifts.
