

Virgie L. Newsome, Bird to her siblings, was born to Lonnie and Eunia Newsome on April 17th, 1940 in Esco, KY. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Edward and Charles, Sisters Josephine (Ivan) Kendrick, Ella Faye Newsome and Mattie Gallivan, and a nephew Michael Newsome.
She is survived by her sister Eunia Marie (Bill) Watts, 13 nieces and nephews: Patricia (Kevin) Pardee, Greg (Sandy) Newsome, Garris (Susan) Newsome, Anthony Newsome, Teresa (John) Kirk, Lonnie (Melissa) Kendrick, Sheila (Chuck) Girard, Shawn Kendrick (Shelly), Diane (Wendell) Jackson, Don (Vickie) Newsome, Alex (DeVonya) Gallivan, Matellena Winn, Libby (Ron) Thompson, several great and great great nieces and nephews, and porch patrol partner Pat Klingler.
She touched so many lives. She was a kind, generous, selfless, serving, grateful, loving, protecting, giving, strong woman. She loved the Lord and enjoyed attending the Old Regular Baptist Church and more recently Grace Fellowship Church.
She loved people, hugs, her “kids” - Chloe Thompson (great niece) and Sean Gallivan (great, great nephew), Family, Football-GO BUCKS!, Friends, playing Yahtzee, chewing Extra gum, learning the words to whatever Chloe was listening to, playing Panda Pop (yes, Aunt Virgie we will clear the next level for you, watching Hallmark Channel, cornbread and buttermilk, and hanging out with, running errands, and spending time with her niece Libby.
Aunt Virgie you spent your life taking care of others and especially your nieces and nephews. The stories we have to tell, the memories we have to share, and the lessons you have taught us are your legacy. – “Is that all the napkins you got? That’s not enough go get some more.”

Family will receive friends on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, with a funeral service Tuesday, June 25 at 10:00 am at Schoedinger East Chapel, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. Columbus, OH. Graveside service to follow at 12:30 pm at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Zanesville, OH.
