Virginia H. Childs, 96 of Columbus, formerly of Detroit, Michigan, passed away peacefully February 15, 2018. She was born May 10, 1921 to the late Andrew and Catherine Hirschbeck. Virginia graduated from Wayne State University and obtained a Master of Science degree from Iowa State University in 1944. She worked in New York City for Women's Home Companion before returning to her hometown of Detroit to teach. She taught Home Economics at Madison High School in Madison Heights, Michigan, where she touched many lives over her long career. After retirement she moved to Ohio to be closer to her beloved daughter.
Virginia is survived by her sons, Ronald B. Childs and Paul A. Childs. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Auralee Childs and James Smith. Virginia is preceded in death by parents and her brother, Edward Hirschbeck.
Virginia will be remembered for her serenity, her sweetness, and for mastering the art of the perfect blueberry pie.
