Virginia (Gini) M. Potter, longtime resident of Upper Arlington, joined her beloved husband, Ernie Potter with our Lord on December 20, 2017. She lived a very full and abundant life with her loving family. Born in Wilmerding, PA, she and Ernie met in childhood, married and built a fabulous life together. She always put her family first, sending all three of her children to college. Gini, along with being a homemaker, worked at the family business, Ed Potter Mercedes-Benz and The China Cat. She was extremely active in the community, especially with the Columbus Maennerchor, where she and Ernie were king and queen of the dance floor! Later in life, she obtained her pilot's license so she could visit her children as they moved to other cities. Eventually, all her loving children resided in the Columbus area, which brought her great joy. Ernie and Gini traveled extensively and were snowbirds in Siesta Key, Florida. She was always ready to return to Upper Arlington to be close to her children and their families. Gini's signature color was purple, which she often wore and even had a purple Christmas tree! She is preceded in death by her parents, Buck and Alberta Smith, her sister, Elva Crosse and loving husband Elmer (Ernie) F. Potter. Gini is survived by her children, Thomas M. (Stacie) Potter, Jacquelyn J. (Christopher) Emery and Ernest H. (Michele) Potter, as well as, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 8th, from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel on Zollinger Rd. in Upper Arlington. Funeral service will be on Tuesday, January 9th at 11 a.m., also at Schoedinger with interment to follow at Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Drive, Suite 170, Columbus, Ohio 43231.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Sunrise on the Scioto and Capital City Hospice for all their dedication and loving care.
