He is survived by David Johnson of West Chester, Pa., Nancy Howison of Sidney, Ohio, five grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
He received his Master of Education from The Ohio State University, and taught math and science in the Columbus schools for thirty years.
Wallace was married to Dorothy Greenler for sixty six years, widowed in 2013. He enjoyed traveling, camping, photography, woodworking, and his aquarium. Self-taught, he sailed locally, then on the Great Lakes and the Atlantic.
While he taught many others, he taught us to-think deeply and be straight forward; live with spontaneity, laugh; the worth of a longer vacation; the wonder of seeing new places; fiscal responsibility and charity; the value of a good photograph; and that doing ones’ best is all one can do.
He was a man that was out of the ordinary.
He requested his body be donated to OSU College of Medicine. The family will have a private memorial service. Arrangements entrusted to Schoedinger Worthington Chapel.
