Walter E. Collins

Funeral services for Walter E. Collins, 85, of Granville, will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 2:00PM at the Pleasant View United Methodist Church, 6031 Fallsburg Rd, Newark.

Walter was born in New Albany, Ohio on August 26, 1925 to the late Ralph and Lessie Collins. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on Monday, November 29, 2010.

Walter was a very mischievous man who loved nothing more than to make others laugh. He enjoyed playing pranks on family and friends and was always very fun to be around. He enjoyed playing cards, outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing, and also collected skunks. Walter served his country proudly for 20 years as a U.S. Navy Veteran.

Walter will be missed by his loving wife of 37 years, Wanda (Lamb) Collins; children, Ralph (Jen) Collins, Peggy Mechling, Tammy (Chuck) Rice, Harry Lamb, Danny (Candy)Lamb, and Debbie Hites (Eric); 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Laura May Rice; brother, Charles (Wynona) Collins; brother-in-law, Charles Beck; and many other extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Walter is also preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Mechling, brothers, Hobart and Edgar Collins, and sisters, Louise Beck and Elizabeth Collins, grandson Steven Weakland, and sisters-in-law, Ethel and Mammie Collins.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Walter E, Collins Memorial Fund at Park National Bank.
