Walter A. Hoff made his life extraordinary. Ltc. Walter Albert Hoff, Esq., MBA, 66, was welcomed by angels into heaven surrounded by his loving family on July 18, 2014. He is survived by his soul mate Noreen Winifred Hoff of 32 years and his beautiful children Caitlin, Walter III (Max), Madeline, Moira, sister Helen Previts, and an adoring extended family. Walter had a remarkable career as Attorney for the Ohio Public Defender. Walter was a professor at Ohio Dominican and served over 20 years in the United States Army Jag Corps. His final commission before retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, was as 2nd in Command Chief Trial Defense Attorney for the European Theatre. Walter’s most important role, however, was being an extraordinary husband, father, uncle, brother, brother-in-law, and friend to all. Walter was a humble man, larger than life, who lit up any room that he entered. Family was the most important thing to Walter. His love of his faith, his country, the military, the Law, music, and academics also knew no bounds. He most loved his vacations by the sea with his family, exercising at “The Shack,” and playing catch in the front yard. His life was a gift to us all and he made you feel like you were a gift to him. The family wishes to thank the staff at OSU Hospital for the tender care Walter received, with special thanks to Ashley, Jerry, and Scott. A private Catholic Mass will be held in Cleveland. A memorial celebrating Walter’s life will be held this fall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Walter’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or Resurrecting Lives Foundation. CARPE DIEM.
