Unwin Company purchased the Strength & Solace Spray for the family of Walter Wayne "Wally" Smith.

What an awesome man of God.  Hard to believe he was my Pastor when I was born. Later he did a revival for us at one of our pastorates.  He was truly a man of God and I always felt special when we were able to visited with him. He will always hold a special place in my heart.

My prayers and sympathy to you all at this time. We were neighbors when you were in Cardington, Oh on South Marion St.

When Jeff Glaze and I were getting married I received a phone call from Uncle Wally and Aunt Marg. They informed us that they would not be able to attend but still wanted to wish us the best. I had a very pleasant conversation with the both of them and he even prayed over our marriage. I will always remember his outreach to us and keep it near and dear in my heart.

Rev. Walter Smith was both a dear friend and my pastor in Walbridge while my husband was overseas. Will never forget he and Marge rushing me in the middle of the night to the hospital to have my last child. They always stay close to me while Lonnie was in Viet Nam. My sympathies and love to Marge, Debbie, Sandy, Tim and all of the family.

One day in the Spring of 1980 on the campus of MVNC I picked up a page of campus news. On the bottom of the back page was an announcement about a church seeking a part-time youth pastor. I called my wife and the senior pastor, and we set up a meet and greet for later that day. When we met Rev. Walter Smith, I told him that my desire was to pastor a church and he told me he was looking for someone he could mentor. It was truly a match made in heaven.  
In addition to my other duties I spent at least one day a week with Wally. I attended all meetings of the Sunday School and Church Boards, reported to them monthly and chaired one meeting of each before I was done, getting my feet wet before I dove into pastoring. He would share his perspective about a pastor’s life in the trenches as well as some of his biggest victories and greatest defeats. He also gave me tips on how to handle some of the awkward situations a pastor faces.
At the beginning of Holy Week that year I was with him, I helped him set up for the Holy Week Communion Service. I was not able to attend the service since my wife and I were visiting her parents over Easter. However, I found out everything I could about that service and liked the approach so much that I would come to do a version of it every year I pastored. It was always my favorite service of the year. 
Although I had several fabulous professors that I learned from immensely, I believe I learned just as much from Wally in one year as I did from the rest of them collectively in five years, if not more. In addition to all that we made lifelong friends in Wally and Marge who visited us the first Sunday after they retired because they had both a son and a son-in-law who pastored. My children have always known them as Grandpa Wally & Grandma Marge. On his way to my graduation from MVNC Wally stopped at the hospital to welcome my new son into the world, Matthew Paul Hazelton. Wally wanted to know if MPH was going to be slowpoke or speedy. That was the Wally Smith I loved.
