William (“Bill”) Richard Harder (80) of Upper Arlington, OH (since 1976), originally from Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on November 22, 2023. He was the son of the late Edwin and Esther (Kunkle) Harder.
Bill graduated from the University of Pittsburgh after serving in the U.S. Army. And while professionally he was an Electrical Engineer (PE), his family remembers him as a loving and devoted husband, a caring and proud father, and a fun and patient grandpa.
He was a gentle, tender-hearted man, who enjoyed family gatherings, walks in nature, projects at his cabin, pets, country music, playing the harmonica, motorcycle rides in younger years, silly jokes, romantic comedies, and ping pong with his grandchildren (who he referred to as God’s blessings).
He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Rita, Steve (son) and Kristin Harder, Sharon (daughter) and Jason Briggs, Ed (son) and Meghan Harder, and Jenny (daughter) and Eric Olson, as well as grandchildren Ben, Elise, Jonathan, Joey, Helen, and Max Harder. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, great-uncle, second cousin, friend, and neighbor who will be dearly missed by those who knew him.
Friends and relatives are invited to join Bill’s family for a funeral mass being held on Saturday, December 16, 2023, 11:00AM, at St. Andrew Church, 1899 McCoy Road, Upper Arlington, OH 43220, followed by a luncheon in the Parish Hall for friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - designated for Richter’s Syndrome research, in memory of William R. Harder are welcome. https://www.lls.org/
