

William “Bill” H. Gibson, Jr., age 89 of Dublin (formerly of Upper Arlington), passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Bill was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late William and Ruth Gibson. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue Gibson and son, William Gibson, III. Bill graduated from Roosevelt High School, Class of 1945 and Miami University, Class of 1951. While at Miami, he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity and played trumpet with the Campus Owls Dance Band. Proud U.S. Marine WWII Veteran. Bill retired from Ohio Bell where he worked in Sales and Marketing after 39½ years of loyal service. In addition, Bill also worked 30 years with H&R Block as a tax preparer. He was a longtime member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and was also a Mason. Bill was an outgoing, friendly man who never met a stranger. Music was a lifelong passion, and he had been playing trumpet with both the Greater Columbus Concert Band and the Musical Ramblers. Bill also ran the Thursday night poker game at Friendship Village of Dublin, enjoyed watching OSU football with friends, and was an avid reader. He will be greatly missed by his children, Robert (Deborah) Gibson, Ann (Jeff) Baird, Jane (Tim) Brown, daughter-in-law, Jill Daley-Gibson; grandchildren, Chris, Brian, Michael, and Peter Gibson, Tom, Erica, and Emily Baird, and Joshua Brown; great-grandchildren, Harper Gibson and Addison and Delilah Baird; brother, Roger (Marie) Gibson; and other family and friends. Family will receive friends from 3-7 P.M. Sunday, December 11, 2016 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Monday, December 12, 2016 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 2070 Ridgecliff Rd. Interment Union Cemetery. Bill participated with the Honor Flight in April of 2009. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight Columbus, PO Box 12036, Columbus, OH 43212.
