William E. Griffith

William Edgar Griffith, CPO, age 90, of Columbus, Ohio has gone to join the staff of The Supreme Commander on December 29, 2015. William was born May 23, 1925 to Rebecca (Zimmerman) and William Griffith on a farm in Perry County. He attended Forest Dale, one of the last one room schoolhouses left in Ohio. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1943 and then joined the United States Navy and served in the Pacific. After World War II he rejoined the Navy at the NAS Columbus. After a 20 year career in the Navy he worked for the United States Army for one year at Fort Hayes, before spending 35 years with the United States Air Force and Air National Guard at Rickenbacker. William retired as Electrical Foreman with the Civil Engineers. William was preceded in death by his brothers, Daniel and Jessie; sisters, Phyllis Krophouser and Garnet Griffith. Survived by his wife Mary; sisters, Alice Campbell and Mary Catherine Daniels; daughters, Janet (Al) Moyers, Linda McKee and Deborah Griffith; son, Michael W. Griffith; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Funeral service 1pm Monday, January 4, 2016 at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43229 where family will welcome friends from 12-1pm; interment to follow at Kingwood Memorial Park.
