

The Honorable William L. Millard, age 79, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away Thursday, May 20, 2010. Born May 8, 1931 in Shaker Heights, Ohio to the late Ralph and Jeanette (Luce) Millard. Graduate of Amherst College and recipient of JD from the University of Virginia. Judge Millard was a longtime member of the Bexley Public Library Board of Trustees, Bexley-Whitehall Rotary, Columbus Country Club, the Athletic Club of Columbus and the Federalist Society. He was a lifetime fan of the Browns, Indians, Buckeyes and genuine jazz and a devoted follower of Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra and the Jazz Arts Group of Columbus. Professionally, he retired from Lane, Alton & Horst after 30 years as a litigator, was a Judge in the Court of Common Pleas for Franklin County and a member of the American College of Trial Lawyers and the ABA. He was a member of St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church. Preceded in death by wife Ann and son James. Survived by children William B. Millard (Lisa), Susan Dutton, John Millard (Chris) and Tom Millard (Casey); grandchildren Harold and Ben Millard; Olivia and Katie Millard; Sarah, Ned and Lisa Dutton; and sisters Nancy Henry (Bud) of Philadelphia, PA and Jean Grenier (David) of Chesterland, OH. Family will receive friends 4-6pm Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Schoedinger Northeast Chapel, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230; Mass of Christian Burial 10am Monday at St. Matthew the Apostle Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Rd., Gahanna, OH 43230; Fr. Paul A. Noble, Celebrant. Graveside Services will be held at 11:30am Tuesday at Cave Hill Cemetery, 701 Baxter Ave., Louisville, KY, 40204 (cavehillcemetery.com).
