

Willie R Byrd passed from this life on Monday August 30, 2010. A devoted husband and father, he led a full and active life. Born in Atlanta Georgia he and his mother moved to Cincinnati as a young boy. In 1946 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, retiring after 20 years of honorable service; and settling with his wife and son in Columbus. Willie went to work for the City of Columbus, retiring after 25 years before moving to Reynoldsburg. In retirement he turned his attention to his favorite pastime, golf, where he was a member and later three term president of the T.O.T Golf Club, as well as ran his small business, Energetic Sterilization Products. Willie was a member of the American Legion, Post 0430; Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 3764; and was past Worshipful Master Prince Hall Military Consistory 304. Willie is survived by his wife, Christa, their son Roy (Pat) of Alexandria VA; and grandson Sean of Fairfax VA. A memorial service will be held at 4 P.M. Saturday, September 11, 2010 at SCHOEDINGER EAST CHAPEL, 5360 E. Livingston Ave., where family will receive friends from 3 P.M. until time of service.
