

After graduating from Central High School in 1942, he enlisted in the military. He decided to join to get out on his own. Willie served in World War II from March 14, 1944 and was honorably discharged on June 6, 1946. He served as a Private in the Army. He remembered it like it was yesterday and it became a defining part of his life. His decorations and awards were: European African Middle Eastern Medal, W/2 Bronze Service Stars, Mentor Lous Unit Medal, World War II Lapel Service Button, World War II Victory Medal, and Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp. Place of entry was Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Place of separation was Camp Atterbury, Indiana.
He was a longtime resident in Columbus, Ohio. After returning from the war, Willie embarked on a career in construction where he later became an employed contractor with the Limbach Co. He served 39 years as a supervisor and electrician.
In 1956 Willie Mitchell was joined with his late wife, Ruby Lee (Solomon) Mitchell in holy matrimony.
Elder Mitchell accepted the Lord Jesus Christ at The Church of Christ of Apostolic Faith, where he was baptized under Bishop Karl Smith in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remissions of sins and received the gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in tongues as the spirit gave utterance. He later joined Bibleway Church Worldwide of Our Lord Jesus Christ, where he was a faithful active member.
Elder Mitchell recognized the call on his life and began his journey to branch out, speaking at various places, parks, businesses and churches throughout the region. All the while attending Aenon Bible College.
Blessed with 93 years of life, he was the greatest Dad ever and will be truly missed.
Willie Frank Mitchell was preceded in death by his mother, Pearl Smith; daughter, Carla K. Mitchell; late wives, Brenda Mitchell and Ruby Lee Mitchell.
Loving memories are cherished by his children, Frances Pinkleton, Delores Isaacs, Larry Royster, Earline Clegg (Joseph), Pauline Trice, Sharon Edwards, Pamela Kimball-Kalay, Willie Pearl Campbell (Ray), Marla M. Mitchell, Ruby C. Bradford and Charles (Michelle) Edwards; sister-in-law, Pearl Carman; large host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, Author Watson (Genevia), Barbara Johnson, other family members and friends.
