Bridget Butler, beloved wife, mother, sister and friend lost her battle to breast cancer and passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025. Born to Irish immigrants, Michael and Kathleen Corkery, she grew up in Elmhurst, NY grounded in the values her family carried with them.
Bridget faced significant health challenges a good part of her life, yet she met every day with quiet strength and determination to live fully. She never allowed her struggles to define her, instead her determination rarely dimmed. Those that knew her will forever remember her feistiness and ability to face adversity with bravery and resilience.
She shared 40 years of marriage with her husband, Richard. Together they raised 3 sons, Sean, Danny and Kevin. They were the pride of her life and she was very proud of the men they have become.
Bridget moved to Rockland County in 1990. In addition to her sister and brother, she was blessed with a group of devoted, loving friends. She deeply appreciated the love and support they showed her especially during her hardest days.
Bridget enjoyed the simple things in life-spending time with family and friends, enjoying her home in Bethany Beach, savoring coffee (and the occasional glass of wine). She loved animals, especially puppies; 70’s rock bands and had a real flair for interior design. She also enjoyed travel and visited various cities in the US and to Ireland when she was able to.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; sister Mary Power (John) and her twin, Mike (Bronwyn). She is also survived by her niece Jessica, nephews Michael, Thomas, Paul and brother in law, Johnny.
She was loved beyond words, and will be missed beyond measure.
