

Lois Jean Morgan (nee Madden) of Valley Cottage passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on January 26, 2014, at the age of 80. She was born to William and Rose Madden on March 10, 1933. Lois attended Haverstraw schools and was a lifelong resident of Rockland County. During high school, she was a "soda jerk", and after graduating high school became a secretary at Letchworth Village. She married the love of her life, Charles Morgan, on September 26, 1954. She became a stay-at-home mom to her five children until her youngest went to school in 1969. She then worked as a teacher's aide in Valley Cottage Elementary School where she worked for many years. Lois was "Mom" to all the neighborhood kids, and lovingly welcomed them into her home with fresh baked goodies, laughter, and a place to have fun. She cherished every moment she spent with her family, from vacationing at the beach to playing cards in the kitchen. Lois was predeceased by her brother, William Madden, and her sister, Doris Grabe. She is survived by her husband, Charles Morgan of Valley Cottage, daughter Jeanne Valentine (Ted) of Nyack, son Jim Morgan (MaryLou) of White Plains, daughter Cathy Ellis (Harold) of Mahopac, son Richard Morgan (Joyce) of Boonton, NJ, daughter Lori Morgan of Valley Cottage, two grandchildren, Lori Ann Willock of the Bronx and Rachel Cooper of Valley Cottage, along with many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend its thanks to the Clarkstown Police for their courtesy and professionalism. Viewing will be on Tuesday, January 28, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Higgins Funeral Home, Congers. Funeral services will be held at St Paul's Church, 82 Lake Road West, Congers, on Wednesday, January 29, at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nyack. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association .
