Margaret A. Cavanagh

Margaret A. Cavanagh (Donnelly) of Congers passed away on June 21st at the age of 87. She was pre-deceased by her husband Joe and survived by her adoring five sons John of Clifton Park (Doris), Joe of Brewster (Charlotte), Jim of Ossining (Susan) Michael of Delmar (Liz), and Frank of Congers (Deirdre).

Her incredible positive spirit lives on through her sixteen grandchildren (Katie, Brendan, Danny, Colin, Daniel, Casey, Kerry, Lindsay, Grace, Tim, Lindsay, Catherine, Patrick, Jack, Kelly and Matt) and her sisters (Agnes Callaghan and Bea Cureau).

She was born in 1929 in Tarrytown, NY to John and Catherine Donnelly and graduated from Tarrytown High School in 1947. She married Joe Cavanagh on January 10, 1959. She worked for over 25 years as a teacher's aide in Lakewood Elementary in Congers where she helped gently nurture hundreds of young children and was well loved by her co-workers. Peggy was also a beacon of brightness to her eighteen nieces and nephews.

A wake will take place at Higgins Funeral Home in Congers on Thursday between 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm and the Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Paul's Church in Congers, NY at 11 am on Friday.
