Connersville native Barry McNeely, 88, died Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home at Connersville. Barry was born on December 28, 1935 to the late John L. and Virginia J. Ross McNeely. He attended Connersville High School graduating with the class of 1955. Following graduation, Barry enlisted in the United States Air Force. On May 28, 1960, Barry married the former Patricia Ann Jones at the First Baptist Church in Rushville. Barry was employed at Ford, retiring in 1997 after many years. He was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees, Music Sound Board, Board of Finance and Stewardship and the 100th Anniversary Committee. Barry was baptized at the Church in April of 1947 making him one of the oldest members. In addition, he also served the Connersville community by being a member of the Fayette County Lions Club, the Veterans Council, AARP and was a volunteer with the Fayette Memorial Hospital Red Cross. Barry treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his church family. He enjoyed archery, bowling, and golfing. He took many golf trips with his friends and family, playing on courses all over the country. Barry will be remembered for having a servant’s heart; our loss is heaven’s gain. Barry is survived by his three children: Gary L. McNeely, Brian McNeely, and Denise L. McNeely; grandsons: Duane McNeely, Derrick and Sierra McNeely; great-grandchildren: Maverick, Bristol, Addison; sister’s-in-law: Rita Collins, Linda Virdon, Anita Carver; several cousins, church family and friends. In addition to his parents, Barry is preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years: Patricia Ann McNeely, who died on February 12, 2017; his sister: Dian L. McNeely. A Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00p.m., on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the First Baptist Church, 1211 N. Grand Avenue, Connersville, with Pastor Mal Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery, section J. Friends may visit at the church from 11:00 a.m., until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Connersville, Connersville Lion Club, or AseraCare Hospice in Barry’s honor.
