Beulah Evans Johnson, 98, formerly of Connersville, died Tuesday April 14, 2020 at Woodland Country Manor in Oxford, Ohio. Beulah was born July 24, 1921 in Jackson County, Kentucky, but grew up in Laurel County, Kentucky. The daughter of Alfred "Al" and Elizabeth Johnson Evans. She was a graduate of Hazel Green High School in Laurel County, Kentucky in 1940. Beulah continued her education at Lindsey Wilson Jr. College in Adair County, Kentucky graduating from there in 1942. She was a teacher for several years in Laurel County. Beulah came to Connersville in 1945, then shortly after returning to school to graduate in 1962 from Eastern Kentucky State College. The same year Beulah was employed with the Fayette County School Corporation. She completed her Master of Science degree at Indiana University in Bloomington in 1967. Beulah finished her teaching career at Maplewood Elementary School in 1984 retiring after 22 years in teaching. Beulah belonged to several organizations including, NEA, IRTA, Elizabeth A. Blacker Club, AARP, Indiana State Teacher Association and a life member of the National Education Association. Beulah was a devoted member of the Park Road Christian Center. Beulah is survived by her daughters: Janet Johnson Herbert and Raymond of Cincinnati, Judy Eileen Johnson Slinker and Jerry of Hamilton, OH; 5 grandchildren; 7 Great-Grandchildren; Several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Beulah is preceded in death by her brothers: Walker Evans, George Evans, William Evans, Edward Evans; sisters: Maxine Evans Dyehouse, Amanda Evans; son-in-law: Jerry Slinker. Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, has been entrusted with services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritans Purse.
