Jack R. Patterson, 68, of the Alpine community, died Friday, August 16, 2019 at Reid Health of Richmond. Jack was born to Willard and Thelma Young Patterson, September 5, 1950 in Batesville, and moved to the farm with his family when he was three. He was a 1968 graduate of Connersville High School. On January 15, 1972 in Laurel, Jack married the former, Pamela R. Baldwin. He was a lifetime farmer and began managing the family farm at the age of 18 until retiring in 2016. Jack had also been employed as a truck driver at Crop Production Services in Kitchel. He enjoyed making his special salsa and preserving the food from his large garden. Trips to the Smokey Mountains and taking the grandkids to Brown County were exceptional occasions for Jack. He was an active member of Garrison Creek Baptist Church and was “Papaw’” to many. Jack is survived by his wife, Pamela; his children and their spouses: Sheila R. Groce and Jacob, Jason R. Patterson; Jenny S. Hannefey and Travis ; Jacob R. Patterson, all of Connersville; brother: Glenn Patterson of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; sister: Ruth Ann Massey and her husband, Brad of Connersville; his grandchildren: Amber Schonfeld, Addison Myers, Tisiola Patterson, Halaevalu Patterson, Lukas Sizemore, Nicklas Hannefey, Hank Hannefey, Tiffany, Tyla and Tyler Patterson, Hailee and Hannah Groce; nephews and nieces, including, Annie Coleman. In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded death by a sister Dianne Fultz. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm. Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Garrison Creek Baptist Church, 5952 South Garrison Road, with Pastor Tim Fluty officiating. Friends may visit at the church from 11:00 am.
