Joyce Elaine Woody

Former Connersville resident, Joyce Elaine Ford Woody, 66, currently of Cincinnati, Ohio, died Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. Joyce was born September 19, 1952, in Connersville to Willie and Gladys L. Brown Ford. She was a 1971 graduate of Connersville High School and had been employed at Visteon and its predecessors following thirty years of service. Joyce spent her life dedicated to her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her time at church as a member of the Higher Praise Worship Center. Joyce liked to shop and had fun riding motorcycles. Joyce is survived by her father: Willie Ford of Connersville; her children and their spouses: Erica Lamb Grace and Tyson of Cincinnati, Ohio; Autumn Combs Upchurch and Terry, John Ryan Combs and Carla, all of Connersville; her grandchildren: Alex and Caroline Grace, Tearra Upchurch, and Javaun Upchurch and his wife, Brooke of Connersville, Dixie, Daisy, Videlia, Lilly and Ava Combs; great grandchildren: Za’mya and Ze’vaun Upchurch; her brother: Gayle Ford and his wife, Judy of Connersville; her nephews: Josh and Adam Ford of Michigan; her significant other: John Hannefey of Connersville. Joyce was preceded in death by her mother and her husband, Larry Woody of Columbia, South Carolina. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Rev. Richie Ware of Higher Praise Worship Center officiating. Interment will follow in Dale Cemetery, section L. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 11 a.m. Saturday until the time of service where memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital . Joyce’s family requests that all of those attending wear some color, as opposed to black, to symbolize the celebration of her life on earth and eternally with God.
