Mary Ellen Bever, 80, of the Orange community, died Sunday, March 4, 2018 surrounded by her children at Flat Rock River Lodge in Rushville where she had resided for a short time. Mary Ellen was born in Fayette County, January 7, 1938 to Kenneth and Hallie Cooper Hauger. She graduated from Fairview High School with the Class of 1956 and on June 3, 1956 she was married in Glenwood to William E. Bever who died July 27, 2009. Together they farmed in Orange Township and enjoyed raising their family. Mary Ellen was the best cook ever and could cook anything. She was a 4-H leader for many years and loved tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. She had also been employed at Pioneer Seed in Rushville and had worked in the cafeteria at Orange Elementary School. She was a member of the Glenwood Church of Christ. Mary Ellen was a very caring person that was always concerned about others first, Mary Ellen is survived by her children and their spouses: Brenda K. Dillon and Tim, Beverly K. Sterling and Paul, Brad K. Bever and Tracie; a daughter-in-law: Melinda Bever, all of the Connersville area; eleven grandchildren and their spouses: Billie Jo Kester and Rick, Misha Porter and her boyfriend, Jared Finegan, Cara Griffey and Michael, Dustin Dillon and his fiancé, Ashley Davis, Sara Koekenberg and Dusty, Matt Sterling and Ashley, Brianne Hoeing, Jacob Bever and Kori, Hannah Bever and her fiancé, Scott Brock, Haylee French and Matthew, Hollie Bever; her great-grandchildren: Brennan and Rylie Joy, Emma, Noah and Lilah Griffey: Hallie, Luke and Harper Hoeing; Alivia, Braylon and Ainsley Porter; Hunter Dillon, Mason Sterling, Monroe Koekenberg, Barrett Bever, Stella and Ava Kester, Addison Davis; a great-great granddaughter: Paisley Joy; two siblings and their spouses: Kenneth Hauger, Jr. and Edna of Glenwood, Peggy Morgan and Kenny of Connersville; her sisters-in-law: Velma Hauger of Ohio, Joanne Hauger of Rushville, Helen Smith and her husband, Witt of Mooresville, Clara Ann Vance of Glenwood; several nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 53 years, her son: Brian K. Bever, who died June 11, 2000; her great-granddaughter: Claire Ellen Griffey; her brothers: Robert, Donald and James Hauger; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Clifford and Stella Bever. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with ministers David Bonne and Don Heller officiating. Interment will follow in Orange Cemetery.
