One of life's transition is from here to eternity were we hope to see our love ones in the hereafter.  Oh if we could only stay with our love ones forever.  Its not fair that we have to go.  I miss you sis Cockburn but my memories of you will remain with me for ever.

Having recently heard this very sad news, I just want to extend my condolences to you all.  She was a lovely lady, and I only have fond memories of her.  I wish you all Gods best from this, and pray He cradles you all in your loss.

Brooklyn NY, Aug 1990: Evang.Cockburn made the call for salvation the night I made my commitment to God...so passionate was her appeal that I was also baptised that same night. "sis" Cockburn has been in my life like a second mother from the day I was born, but this was one of the greatest gifts she had ever given to me...winning my soul for Christ. Forever in my heart.

 To all the Cockburn family ,we would like to carry some of the burden of your loss of your wife,mother and our Auntie Yvonne .
 collect all those tears and put them in a bottle   till when you see her again 
and they will be tears of joy on a brighter day .

My Tribute to my godmother and Aunty. Hedley Yvonne Cockburn. I have fond memories growing up around this icon. Saturdays spent in the cosy kitchen waiting for the bubbling pot of Jamaica soup or Sunday dinners as part of the family. I am thankful for the many times when she saved me from the wrath of my dad. LAUGHING out so Loud. The days when we all had to go Tuesday/Wednesday prayer meetings and pretend to pray everytime the adults looked up. We had our heads bowed and eyes squeeze shut. The many days of summer bliss at the summer school I know that kept a lot of us of the streets and out of trouble. I remember her blunt and straight to the point words as I grew up to be careful of the boys. LAUGHING out loud again. She was so right thanks to her she was a positive role model, she was stern but kind. She was loyal and her faith in God was always 100%. She lived for God and as a result many peoples lives were changed. I have three wonderful friends and our friendships have lasted until this day. Andrew Cockburn, Novlett Coburn and Homer Coburn-Dayes I luv you all and although I cannot be with you all during this time of pain and loss. I understand and will always be there for you. Celebrate in style, stand by each other and know that God has not left your side he has surrounded you with friends. That no matter time or distance will never change that. Be strong in the Lord and the power of his might. Theres so much more to say but when we meet up we can talk about that

I miss my friend, today I wanted to call her and go for a walk through the neighborhood. Magic wanted to know where would the flowers go for Mrs. Yvonne. Devon still pray for God to hold her tight. Chris and I miss her so very much that it hurts. We Thanked God for allowing our family to know and love her like a mom, a grandmom, and especially a friend. The Boyd Family

Sister Yvonne Dayes Cockburn will be sadly missed by Iona Lynch Nicholson.

She was never a rough person always kind, caring and loving.  I knew her since 1954 from Portland Jamaica and she was the same person all along.

I developed great interest in her by watching her caring for Bishop Bernard and Bishop V.E Peart and family. 

When everyone migrated  to London England I went to America, we all reconnected again in 1980 in London she was the very same type person that I saw from the beginning. 

When I got married she came to Detroit Michigan to be a part of my wedding.

She has being with me from 1954 until even after relocating to Atlanta Georgia.

Sister Cockburn was so caring that she followed you all the way either by her presence or by phone.

Sister Cockburn you will be sadly missed by your long time sister, friend and associate Rev. I.M Lynch Nicholson.

Faithful servant & soldier indeed. Your mum was our first mentor in the faith. When Lloyd & I got saved, she ran the nurture group and baptism classes at Tooting which we attended. She prepared us for our faith and Christian marriage. We will never forget her for her input to us and her teachings & encouragement. God must be pleased. Stay strong & be proud of your wonderful mother.

Our deepest condolences and sincere prayers goes out to the Cockburn family following the death of veteran NTA Evangelist Yvonne Cockburn Mon 4th Feb. We will miss her dearly. Precious in the sight is the death of his saint. May her soul rest in peace.

My heart is broken tonight for my sweet neighbor. One of the finest ladies in the world, Mrs. Yvonne Cockburn, went home to be with Our Lord tonight. Mr. Hedley called me just a little while ago. Let me tell you about my friend and Sister in Christ...

Mrs Yvonne was a Woman of God. You could just feel His love pouring out of her. She and Mr Hedley had a long, loving marriage, and welcomed a grandbaby to the world right before Thanksgiving. She told me Mr Hedley would get up every morning before she did and make tea for her. She was so proud of her children and all of her adopted family too, of which we were so blessed to be a part. Originally from Jamaica, they lived in London for many years. They did the work of the Lord all around the world, starting and growing church congregations. I believe Mr Hedley told me SHE started several churches in Africa! She was a wonderful cook also. How I will miss her phone calls saying, "Hello Baby...I have been cooking!" I would walk over and she would give me Shepherd Pie or rice & peas or curry or jerk chicken - always in glass dishes with fine silver lids. Her rum cakes at Christmas were unbelievable too!!! I will miss our mailbox chats, her bright smile, and her hugs. I am so thankful that she blessed my life, and the lives of my family, for many years.

Please remember in prayer tonight our dear friend and brother, Hedley Yvonne Cockburn and their family.

Sister Cockburn was one of my other Mum's. Never a harsh word and so full of love. I recall her last visit to NTA London when she sat on my lap and commented at how the tables had turned. Another shining star gone to be with the Lord.

My condolences to the family mommy will be missed she was a kind and gentle loving person. I know mommy 1989 I never seen her get angry are raise your voice at anyone even when Andrew do things that he not supposed to do, but in life there is a reason for everything  God know why he call her home at this time. We were blessed that we get the chance to meet and know her, her body may be gone but her spirit will live on forever on this earth and in heaven god bless the family and keep your heads up on hope if we live our life according to God we will see you again in heaven someday.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Bro Cockburn, Novlette and the rest of the family.  Sis Cockburn, always had a kind word and a smile to share with me. I am comforted knowing that she is resting in the arms of Jesus.  

I pray for the family that although this may be a tough time, be comforted as you remember all in the good times you shared together.  She is resting, but her memories will live on forever.

Her petite stature and frame, tiny hands and large spirit: this is my memory of my Aunt Yvonne. Her faithfulness and Love for the Lord was evident and unwavering in her every step. Our Bible speaks to faithfulness in Matthew 28:16-20

Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Aunt Yvonne was witty and clever. She brought smiles and laughter during our table conversations and fine desserts. Brian recalls Aunt Yvonne was welcoming and kind. She spoke of the Lord with such passion and certainty, that I am confident her journey has continued in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Sister Cockburn impacted my life as a teenager back in the 80s.  Her exaltations and encouragement will always be remembered and cherished. The earth is a better place because of the life she lived and the examples she demonstrated.  RIP Dear Sister Cockburn.

Dear Aunty, we will dearly miss you and  we thank God for the time that you have graced our lives.  We will miss your warmth and kindness in your words and your encouragement.  We thank you for showing us a caring way and a beautiful smile, great courage and faithfulness in God.  Many condolenscences to Uncle Hedley, Novellete, Andrew, Homer and the grandchildren.

Dearest Cockburn Family,

Mom will be truly missed, her presence and grace were attributes she offered selfishly to all she encountered.  
I personally would like to thank God for allowing her to be a blessing to all of us and even though her physical body has moved on her spirit will continue to live within us.
Let's rejoice at a life well-lived and the going home of a courageous woman of God.

Ahh! What can we say when a flower we have enjoyed for its beauty and its fragrance finally fades away, but "Thank you Father for lending Yvonne to us for those 26,634 days.
