Mrs. Betty Bonnie Chapman

BETTY BONNIE (BOOL) CHAPMAN, age 90, a long-time resident of Coon Rapids, MN, died peacefully on Jan. 5, 2015, at Mountainside Residential Care in Margaretville, NY, where she had gone to live after four years with her daughter in Brooklyn, NY. 


The ninth of 12 children, Betty was born in 1924 to Jessie J. and Herman A. Bool on their farm in Lincoln, NE. She met and married William P. (Bill) Chapman in Lincoln in 1942 and they remained a devoted couple through a 65-year marriage, during which they lived in Lincoln, in Bloomington, MN, and in Coon Rapids, MN. She worked for a time in the Anoka County schools, but her real work was at home: Betty was a talented homemaker, gardener, and craftsperson. She had a fine sense of the ridiculous. She loved to dance, and she loved to laugh.

Betty was predeceased by Bill and by their son, William Robert (Billy) Chapman. She is survived by daughter Victoria (Vicky) Chapman Farrar and grandson William Nicholas Farrar, of Brooklyn, NY; by sister Joan Deats of Lincoln, NE; and by brother Herman Bool of Crowley, TX.

Services will be held on SATURDAY, 1/10/15 at 11AM at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55448. Interment Morningside Memorial Gardens.
