He is preceded in passing by his grandparents, Ruth and Mike Wnuk, and Walter and Margaret Skalsky; aunt, Patricia (Donny); and uncle, Mick (Gwen).
Corey is survived by his parents, Paul (Lana) Yackel, and Becky (Jerry) Skalsky; siblings, Cory, Derek (Sheila) and their children Olive and Elyn, Sharayah (Ronnie) and their children Ophelia and Ronnie, Julia (Jordan), Tim, Shawna (Anthony) and their children Everlee and A'Shawn, Leah (Dylan); grandparents, Peter and Peggy Yackel, Toni and Bill Arland, Jeff and Susan Sievers; aunts, Michelle, Laura, Samantha, Lisa, Lisa, Adriana, Kimberly; uncles, Mike, Alex, Jeffrey, Andy, Chuck; lots of cousins; and many other family members and friends.
From Corey's mom, Becky "There is so much to say about Corey. I will say that he would think his most important achievement would be his relationship with family and friends, and he would be right. Corey didn't care a single bit about material things. He was happy with a good computer to play video games with and his D&D paraphernalia. He loved board games, too, and we spent many holidays and family time playing games. He loved movies- I remember when he broke his ankle and recovered at my house- we watched the entire Harry Potter series because I had not seen them. He was so happy that I did that with him. Corey always was the caring big brother to his many siblings. He'd love them and give them straight advice as only he could do. He loved a good debate, weekends at the cabin with friends, lunch with his aunt, grouse hunting with Jerry, and hunting and fishing with his uncles and cousins. I remember when I first met Jerry and Corey was 3. He would always ask if Jerry would hunt in "those woods" and he would be pointing to a small cluster of trees that we would be driving by in the car. I remember when he was maybe 6 or so, Jerry took him road hunting for grouse. Jerry let him eat licorice, and drink coke. Corey came home and told me that he "really liked this road hunting". Corey loved to cook for his family and friends. We will miss his holiday chili and Friendsgiving at his house. Corey had a huge heart and the gift of gab - he never met a stranger. He loved well and was loved immensely."
