David Edwin Halverson

David was born on May 19th, 1953, in Estherville, Iowa, to Parker and Virginia (George) Halverson. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1971. He attended Mankato State University earning his bachelor’s degree in Sales and Marketing in 1974. David and Doreen (Wille) Halverson were married on July 31st, 1976. David and Doreen lived in Detroit Lakes, primarily raised their children in Fridley, before eventually settling in Champlin, Minnesota, once their children were grown and out of the home.

David spent his entire career in the furniture business where he proudly worked at both Schneiderman’s Furniture and Ethan Allen as a store manager.

One of David’s greatest yearly joys was going on motorcycle trips with his son, Dan. Over the summer months, they shared numerous trips together, travelling across the United States and Canada, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

His daughter Darcy was the joy of his life. They shared many similar traits and were dedicated to each other. She adored her dad.

David took immense pride in his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His wife, children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He is survived by his wife, Doreen; daughter Darcy (Justin) Weingartner of Andover, Daniel (Alicia) Halverson of Elk River; His seven beloved grandchildren: Bryce, Rylan, Brayden, Audrey, Colton, Brooks and Elia. He loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and grilling out with family in the summertime.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Parker and Virginia Halverson, his stepfather, Harold Stanwick, his brothers, Arthur and George Halverson, and his sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Charles) Bieber.

Join us to celebrate David's life on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm, with service at 2:00 pm, and refreshments to follow.
