Preceded in death by his loving parents Richard J. and Agnes M, two brothers Stephen R. and Joseph, and a nephew Stephen R., Jr.
Always a great friend, David would do anything for anyone. Even if he couldn’t physically help, he still found some way to help get the job done. A fountain of knowledge of subjects far and wide, if there was something he didn’t know (which was very little) he definitely knew how to find the answer. He loved to research anything and everything on his iPad. He designed his table (his lifeline) for his two iPads, cell phone and remotes for his ceiling fan, lights and mouth stick. If you were fortunate enough to be involved in David’s life, he probably taught you something. He was a fantastic teacher and had the utmost patience. He enjoyed cooking, fixing things around the house, and most importantly, developed a special way to care for himself. Nobody knew better than David how to care for him.
As the biggest testament to his character, David’s proudest accomplishment was creating and maintaining his independence through his limitations and setbacks. When life threw him a setback, David relied on his incredible resilience and intelligence to forge on. Never one to make excuses, David loved life and was out and about all the time.
He loved anything outdoors – gardening, hunting, fishing, and camping in the woods, the sun and rain. You name it - if it was outside, he loved it. A couple of his most favorite things to do were to attend the State Fair each summer and go to as many concerts as he could. A yearly long time tradition with his nieces and nephew was to head north to the annual “Pig Roast”. A special highlight for David was the year he was able to take a ride in the sidecar of his friend’s motorcycle – priceless!
He was very proud to start his own business, Orthopedic Pants, Inc. In his spare time he created clothing for people with disabilities, starting with himself. He also enjoyed speaking at schools and other venues around the community about drinking and driving. He really liked to help educate the younger generation on making good choices.
Always making time for his family, one of David’s favorite things to do was to watch his great nephews play their sports, cheering them on every chance he got. When he couldn’t attend their sporting events live in-person, he tuned in from the comfort of his bedroom on his IPad. He told them all the time how proud he was of the athletes they were becoming. Another of David’s favorite past times with his great nieces and nephews was giving 4-wheeler rides - lots and lots of them!
David was an amazing brother, uncle, great-uncle, brother-in-law, and a Godfather to nephew Jason Weller and Great Nephew Hunter Spurgeon, and friend to all. He will be missed beyond words. Until we meet again, rest in peace, buddy. Forever in our hearts and always by our side.
Survived by sisters, Richele B. (Phil) Lovas, Clarice Nordin and Kristine LeTendre. Nieces, Royetta Spurgeon (Mark), JaMi Weller and Amanda Logan; Nephews, Jason Weller and Greg Nordin (Beth).
