DeLoris was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota where she continued to reside until her seventies. She was raised in the city with a short stint in California. She met the love of her life Conrad Gorsuch at age 15 and the two were married when she was 19. They were married 57 years and raised two daughters together.
Family was important to DeLoris and she played an important role in several nieces and nephews lives’ not to mention Grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always hosted holiday parties and summer picnics along with wedding and baby showers for family and friends. She was a true matriarch of the family.
She had a love of learning and children which was portrayed in her chosen profession as a teacher. Throughout her life she would go back to education by receiving her associate degree and then her Bachelor of Arts in Education. After teaching Kindergarten for a few years she returned to receive a Masters in Education. She truly wanted to be the best teacher she could be and always strived to instill a love of learning in all her students so they would love learning as much as she did.
She had a love of travel and had the opportunities to take several trips. She planned family trips and took several trips on her own or with friends. I believe her favorite trip was to Hawaii and always spoke of the beauty of nature. She was an avid reader in later years reading everything from Harry Potter to Debbie McComber. Cooking was one of the things she enjoyed the most. She loved going though cookbooks and trying new foods and recipes.
In retirement she continued to play a important role in her family’s lives’. Always lending a helping hand, providing advise and listening. She thoroughly enjoyed her Grandchildren and then her Great-Grandchildren. When ever she could hold a baby she was beyond happy.
Her health has deteriorated in the last few years and finally after 2 years of back and forth with health issues she suffered from an infection she could not recover from. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.
