

Ethel Schrader was born November 24th, 1938 in Langdon, North Dakota, the daughter of Lester and Bernice Schrader. She attended and graduated from Starkweather High School. Ethel received her Bachelor of Science degree from Minot State University and did Graduate work at the University of North Dakota. She started teaching at 18 in a one room school near Starkweather, North Dakota. She taught for several years in Devils Lake, North Dakota, Great Falls, Montana and retired after teaching second grade for 33 years for the Anoka-Hennepin School District #11. Before retiring from teaching, she attended Hennepin Technical Institute and received a degree in Floral Design. After retiring, she was a substitute for the Minneapolis and Anoka-Hennepin School Districts for 17 years.
Ethel was baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Starkweather, North Dakota. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Ham Lake.
She married John Matti on November 25th, 1967. They lived in Fridley, MN for several years and then moved to Oak Grove where they lived for the past 53.
Ethel is survived by her husband John and son Matthew of Oak Grove, Minnesota; 2 grandchildren Layne of Ham Lake, Minnesota, and Carey of Tampa, Florida; one sister Diane and brother-in-law, Dr. Gary Smith of Tucson, Arizona; many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by parents Lester and Bernice Schrader.
Funeral services will be held at Gearhart Funeral Home, 11275 Foley Blvd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55448 on Saturday November 11th, 2023 at 1pm. Visitation will begin at 12pm. Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
