Jim served his country in the Military Naval Branch from August 1951 – August 1955. He married Marlene Harvey on January 4, 1957, and celebrated 67 years of marriage this year.
Jim generously shared his time, knowledge, resources and love with all those he came across.
His family, and especially his 8 children, got liberal doses of his gifts but he did not stop there.
Jim came along side many, young and old, in friendship with loyalty, mostly good counsel and a willingness to mentor and debate. He appreciated a lively and loud discussion on politics, religion, current events, past events and any other subject that he could test your knowledge.
He was a carpenter and spent many years in the construction trade followed by a season in real-estate and ending his structured working days in the optical business.
He was an amazing provider with a non-stop work ethic and the ability to pull a team of novice and/or experienced workers together to get any construction job done as he was a born delegator and a natural teacher with confidence in one’s ability to learn. He had a life-long love of learning and just assumed the rest of us did too.
His Love and trust in God, along with his prayers, covered many of us and saw us thru life’s many joys and sorrows. We miss him so, but do not begrudge him one moment with our Savior in heaven.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Ellen Kerrigan and siblings, Reverend Bernard Kerrigan, Leo Kerrigan (Genevieve), Kathleen Burdick (Russell), Rita Husman (Mike), John Kerrigan (Betty), Dennis Kerrigan, Eugene Kerrigan (Doreen), son-in-law, Dan Askvig, and many other family and friends.
He is survived by 2 siblings, Greg Kerrigan (Joyce) and Marion Burns (Bill), His beloved wife, Marlene Kerrigan, His children, Patrick Kerrigan (Robin), Dennis Hill (Kelly), Joe Kerrigan (Brenda), Beth Connolly (Tom), Dave Kerrigan, Jean Askvig, Bernie Kerrigan (Carol) and Mary Pearce (Keith), Laura Hill, Nickie Kerrigan, and Jeff Jones, 22 grandchildren and 44 greats and again, many other family and friends.
